About the Site Name
AmethystRSS is new implementation of the ideas of AmphetaDesk in Ruby on Rails. another jewel with a similar name. AmephetaDesk introduced me to the idea of adaptive RSS readers. It just ordered feeds by the number of stories read, but even that little bit was an improvement. However, it bogged down as feeds were added and became too slow to use with a few dozen feeds.
AmethystRSS easily handles hundreds of RSS feeds and looks at article contents as well. Improvements are ongoing. This blog discusses both the programming and business challenges.
URLs
This blog started out before AmethystRSS at abluz.dyndns.org. That is still the main domain, though it is accessible as blog.AmethystRSS.net. Soon I’ll switch the primary and second domain names and eventually drop the abluz domain name.
